Designing and developing patent-pending EPFCG for special delivery method in military application. Currently in the prototype development and patent application stage.
Quickly developed initial proof of concept using available dev kits. Designed system to customer specifications which included AC, DC or 6 Battery input, 3 regulated output Voltages and RS485 communication with customer system. Design included 6 unique board designs. Used CAN bus to communicate between the main MCU and 6 battery boards. Supervised initial delivery through production and made improvements to ensure meeting customer needs.
Developed battery voltage booster to provide higher voltage for three phase brushless DC motor with high current input and output. Simulated design to tune operating point and efficiency.
Designed power scavenger system to accept a wide voltage range and provide a regulated voltage to customer system while charging or discharging customer battery. Highly miniaturized and power dense system, 135 Watts on 2.5”x1.5” board.
Automated test system design for reliability testing including 85°C at 85% humidity, temperature cycling and end of line production testing. Designed using rack mounted Keysight data acquisition and relay systems, power supplies and cable harnessing for 24 connections. Coordinated with LabVIEW engineer to develop and test interactive test software.
Led Device Validation Testing project team consisting of members in Germany, US and the Philippines in testing a new generation of products. Organizing tasks, equipment purchase, manufacturing and testing.
Ensured compliance with local and national standards for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment including Handbook 44, NTEP and CTEP standards. Documented and performed testing to ensure compliance, led improvements and changes where required to maintain compliance.
Documented and performed thermal performance testing of existing metrology for energy dispensing using power analyzer, precision voltmeter, data acquisition system, 500kW load bank and diesel generator. Processed data collected using Matlab software and wrote test report. Worked with a national laboratory to develop a new energy dispense meter for next generation of products.
Multi board system that adapts power from battery and provides multiple outputs. Performed EMI / EMC analysis, tuning and design refresh on existing design. Performed in-house emissions analysis, partner certification testing and customer site radio testing to ensure meeting MIL-STD-461.

Developed safe-to-mate procedures, documentation and finalized existing design. Performed in-house testing and partner certification testing to pass space qualification for flight.
Sourced a new motor for higher torque application, developed battery pack, modified and used existing electronics to develop quick-turn prototype.
Developed LCD touch controller display board using Microchip PIC32MZ series microcontroller as GPU with DDR2 SDRAM. Implemented full-duplex RS-485 and I2C communications systems. Performed initial prototyping with development boards and MPLAB Harmony Graphics Composer to build initial test software. Led software engineer with software requirements and testing and layout engineer with layout requirements.
Miniaturized existing design elements and developed serial I2C based LED controller to reduce the number of necessary wires, achieving miniaturization.
Developed a prototype miniature camera vision system. Used Altera MAX10 FPGA, MIPI CSI-2, Omnivision camera, flat flex layout and USB 3.0. Performed layout for prototype board. Worked closely with software engineer to develop firmware for prototype.
Developed front panel PCB using isolation hardware while maintaining medical device class isolation. Implemented ESD protection hardware. Specified layout for isolation and noise of LVDS, SPI, and high voltage RF signals.
Developed single layer flexible PCB. Worked with the vendor, graphics team and mechanical team to ensure the project met needs and timeline.
Researched, reviewed and presented on the company’s current state of software controls, their usage and suggestions for improvement.
Researched and studied the effect of ionizing gamma radiation exposure on specific electronic components including MOSFETs, diodes and some plastics.
